Meryem Duygun is a Professor of Banking and Finance at the Nottingham University Business School in the UK. She holds an endowed chaired professor in Risk and Insurance funded by the UK largest insurance company, Aviva. Meryem directs the ESRC IAA funded University of Nottingham Fintech Research Network. She is the President of IFABS-International Finance and Banking Society, a leading global research society. Her expertise is in the areas of banking, risk, financial technologies (FinTech) and Insurtech. Her current research on InsurTech is funded by the British Academy.

Meryem is the academic delegate on the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Financial Services Innovation Forum. She is board member of the University of Nottingham Asia Research Institute. Meryem has published two books and numerous studies in leading international journals, including among others Journal of Corporate Finance, British Journal of Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Economic Behaviour & Organization, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, etc. Meryem serves as an editorial board member for a number of internationally recognized journals. Currently she is the Subject Editor of Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions & Money and Associate Editor in Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence -Artificial Intelligence in Finance. She served as a guest editor for Journal of Corporate Finance and Journal of Banking & Finance.

Meryem is a regular consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Indonesian Supreme Audit Board (BPK). She works closely with Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) on small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) access to finance research. She was a co- organiser of a major research impact event in Tokyo, Japan on 17-18 October, 2017 in collaboration with ADBI and UNESCAP-United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia. She has also co-organised the first ever Nottingham University Tri-Campus Banking and Finance Conference, which took place in Ningbo, China in August 2017. She is a regular speaker at national and international events.

Professor Mohamed Shaban is currently a Professor of Finance and FinTech at the University of Leicester School of Business (ULSB). He is currently Independent non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Dagong Europe Credit Rating. He has extensive industry and academic experience in the areas of asset management, corporate finance and financial services industry. Professor Shaban is a member of the CFA Institute. Mohamed joined the University of Leicester from the University of Sheffield. Formerly Mohamed worked in several managerial posts in top regional companies in Egypt before joining academia. His last position was the Director of Corporate Finance at TMG Group. Among his major achievements are the feasibility studies of the landmark residential and hotel complexes in Egypt (Four Seasons Hotels in Cairo, Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh and Kempinski Hotel Cairo).

Professor Shaban is the co-founder and the Vice President of the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS); and the co-founder of UK Efficiency, Productivity and Innovation Network UKEPIAN. Currently he is the Coordinator of the EURO Working Group on Efficiency and Productivity Analysis. His major research fields are international banking, corporate finance, SME’s lending and governance where he published a number of research papers in these areas. Mohamed is consulted as an international expert by Indonesian BPK (Supreme Audit Board) for banking and service sector performance evaluation. Mohamed is currently leading a major research project in the area of SMEs finance and FinTech in collaboration with researchers from BPK and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
