英文摘要：Under the background of the Chinese government's encouragement for the development of cultural and creative industries, the game industry has been highly developed and has become a hot field for various mergers and acquisitions. This also makes the companies that implement mergers and acquisitions in high-margin M&A markets faced with challenges to manage large amounts of goodwill. As a research and development company that listed in the game industry, the You-You company has completed three large-scale mergers and acquisitions activities since 2012 to realize the company's strategy of “extensive development”, achieving the goals of improving business structure, integrating IP with R&D, and opening up overseas markets. However, the huge amount of goodwill formed by M&A activities has caused the You-You Company faced with great pressure of goodwill impairment. This case describes the challenges of M&A, resource integration and the management of goodwill assets, analyzes the substance of goodwill and its accounting requirements, discusses the impact of the characteristics of the constituent elements of goodwill on its management strategy, and explores the path of improving management of goodwill and avoiding goodwill impairment for game industry enterprises.
